Passion Hospice Volunteers provide vital support to our Agency and the patients and loved ones we serve. Whether it’s providing companionship, offering support to family and caregivers, or helping with community outreach, the contributions of our volunteers are essential to the important work we do.
Volunteers serve in many ways, they have so much to give and do just about anything!
Some examples of services they provide to patients and their loved ones are:
- Socialize with patients and families
- Listen to and share stories
- Be a comforting and supportive presence
- Engage in the patient’s hobbies such as playing cards, working puzzles or reading
- Run errands or complete simple chores
- Deliver supplies
- Stay at the home with a patient so the caregiver can run errands outside the home
Volunteers also work in the office doing things like:
- Arrange for flower deliveries
- Mail greeting cards
- Organize employee appreciation activities
- Decorate for or organize holiday celebrations
- Answer the phone and call patients to check in
- Unpack, organize and distribute supplies
- Data entry
Meet Angie Cronin!
Angie has been volunteering for Passion Hospice for over 9 months. Angie manages our flower service. She picks up flowers and plants donated by Trader Joes, delivers them to the office and prepares them for delivery. Plants that may need more love, go home with Angie for care, before being delivered. Angie’s arrangements and plants are shared with our patients, their loved ones, facilities and clinics. Angie says, “Volunteering is a powerful way for me to give back to the community and make a positive impact on the lives of others. I love arranging flowers and growing plants, so this is a perfect fit for me!”
Our Passion Volunteer program is open to anyone over the age of 18 to provide patient contact services and over the age 16 for duties that do not require patient or family contact. Volunteer applicants are required to apply, interview, provide references and complete criminal background checks.
